The Transcontinental Contradiction

April 2022 Cocktail Series

The Transcontinental Contradiction

The April cocktail series takes a few classic east coast style cocktails and journeys to the tropics to combine tiki builds with New York Sour style riffs that use wine as a cocktail ingredient!

We are showcasing three different styles in our April crate:

  • Our Proper Version is the standard recipe for this month

  • An Elevated Version uses advanced techniques and a commonly found perishable ingredient that we are unable to adequately provide

  • A Modified Version uses some of the ingredients from the proper version, but changes up the recipe and technique to create a completely different cocktail experience

Each crate provides ingredients for a total of 4 cocktails with the spirits provided from our partners at La Bodega. We throw in a little extra of our handcrafted mixers, just in case you want to experiment and make a few more cocktails…

Cocktail styles: This month’s cocktail series features a tropical twist on a New York Sour, incorporates an egg white into a classic Boston Sour structure, and a traditional tiki cocktail re-imagined!

Flavor profile: Tart tropical fruit notes permeate through the three styles with a warm cinnamon spiced undertone complimented by bitter pomegrantate

Spirit Base: We aren’t quite out of the cold yet, so we are keeping it warm with a whiskey base that is complimented by red wine used as an ingredient in the cocktails!

Bartender techniques: Our techniques this month will be both a standard bar shake and a dry shake with the egg white, while we will be using a float technique to execute the final touches on the sour structures!

Final thoughts…

We are keeping it warm and dry with rye whiskey in this month’s series, but this cocktail series would work well with by substituting a blanco tequila to showcase a brighter flavor profile if you want to experiment!
